In the field of electricity distribution, innovation is essential to improve efficiency and safety. The R&D department of T.M. S.R.L. faces new challenges every day by studying innovative technical solutions and to meet the most complex requests of our customers.

In this perspective, TMclad takes a new step forward, the medium voltage armored switchboard of T.M. has been redesigned to offer a more compact solution while maintaining the same performance characteristics compared to traditional models.

The old solutions featuring two compartments, one 1000 mm line entry and one with a switch and 1000 mm exit, have been replaced by the new version with a single 1000 mm compartment with line entry, switch and line exit.

Redesign

The redesign required an in-depth study of the insulation distances to maintain the original electrical characteristics of the switchboard, involving careful engineering work and the development of new components. Furthermore, the reduction of the internal space of the switchboard had to not affect the possibility of intervention by operators on the compartments, another challenge that was not underestimated by T.M..

Recertification

The new solution has been subjected to internal arc tests to recertify the safety of the product. The tests, conducted according to the IAC 31.5kA 1 Sec. standard, have been brilliantly passed, demonstrating the high reliability of the new switchboard.

Advantages of the New Solution

  • Greater compactness: 100% reduction in overall dimensions compared to traditional models, resulting in space savings and ease of installation.
  • Improved efficiency: The redesign has allowed for more in-depth studies that have led to significant improvements in efficiency.
  • Same safety: The internal arc resistance is guaranteed AFLR, which means it is able to protect operators on every side of the panel in the event of an internal arc, thanks to having passed six successive IAC tests performed at 31.5kA for 1 Sec.; furthermore, the maximum class of service continuity LSC 2B-PM is guaranteed, allowing the panel to be operated in complete safety even with live compartments.
  • Ease of maintenance: When redesigning TMclad, great attention was paid to the accessibility of the internal components to ensure simple and rapid maintenance.
